Missions at Christ United Methodist Church
The mission is to assist other area churches and organizations provide bag lunches for students attending certain Title 1 schools in Greensboro on Fridays during the summer, when federal funding for student lunches is not provided.
> Get Involved Volunteer individually or with your small group to prepare the bag lunches, deliver them to the assigned school, and hand them out to the children during the summer months.

Out of the Garden
CUMC and Out of the Garden address family hunger by packing and delivering bags of food each week to Jones Elementary, which distributes the bags so students in need can take the food home for the weekend in their backpacks.
> Get Involved Leave food donations on the shelves outside of the Library (320 pounds of food are needed each week) or volunteer to help sort and pack the food each week. Food needed includes:
- protein beans (pinto, black, etc.)
- canned spaghetti sauce (approximately 24 ounces)
- spaghetti pasta
- canned chicken and tuna
- peanut butter (approximately 15 ounces)
- crackers in sleeves
- white rice in big packages for repacking
- canned Spaghetti-o–type meals
- individually packed snacks such as Lance crackers and granola bars
- canned green beans
- canned corn
- packs of instant oatmeal

CUMC supports the Nyeri Church, of the Methodist Church of Kenya, in their outreach efforts to provide a nutritious meal on Sundays to children from an adjoining slum area and involve those children and their families in the life of the church. CUMC also supports the operation of a preschool serving those children, providing education in a Christian setting, meals, clothing and shoes, and preparation for qualification and attendance at a public school.
> Get Involved Provide funding to help subsidize scholarships for children living in the surrounding slum areas.

UMW and Hampton Elementary School
This mission provides the opportunity to build reading success at Hampton Elementary School by providing necessary resources to students in the Orange Grove community in southeast Greensboro.
> Get Involved Volunteer to be a reading buddy or to help in the Parent Resource Center. Contribute funds to the United Methodist Women, who will use the funds to purchase books for the students to take home, for the media center, and for classrooms.
