Africa Rural Institute

About the ARI Students
At the Africa Rural Institute, students are challenged with superb educational programs, leadership training and character education - all done against a Christian backdrop. Students regularly place at the top of the national examinations which are taken at the end of grade 8. Boys and girls are admitted to some of the best high schools in Kenya and perform exceptionally when they go there. Some of the early graduates of the school are now old enough that they have finished college in the US and England. Some have returned to Kenya to take positions in the government, or, recently, at ARI as instructors.

About the Needs
For the needy young people who will receive your support, it would be impossible for them to be able to afford to cost to attend this school. Most of the needy students come from broken homes, homes where one or both parents have died from HIV/AIDS or complications from the disease, or homes where the remaining parents cannot feed all of the children. Supporters of this program will enable these students to get an education which can be their passport to a much different life once they complete their schooling. This is especially true for girls. Once educated, they will have choices available to them that they otherwise would not have.

About the Scholarships
ARI would like to have at least 35 students supported through this program. As said above, Christ Church members have already pledged to support 10 students, but more support is needed. Each supported student will be in school for the full year. Potential donors should commit to at least providing support for all of the primary grades. The cost is $350 per student, which provides room, board, fees, uniforms and maintenance for the full year.
