Daily Bible Reading on the Go

One of the biggest challenges to keeping up with a daily Bible reading plan is finding or making the time to do it.  But if you think about it, each day presents us with many opportunities to read the Scriptures: Waiting in line at the grocery store, the school pick up line,  an unexpected delay at the doctor’s office.  The problem is that we are not prepared to take advantage of these opportunities because we typically do not have our Bible with us.  (If we were Baptists this wouldn’t be a problem but since we are Methodists it is.) Recent advances in cell phones can help here.  For several years now I have used my iPhone for my daily Bible reading.  (No surprise there.  Most of you know I am a geek.) In particular I use an app called BibleReader (http://www.olivetree.com) and it has helped me leverage moments of discovered time to produce spiritual growth.  You can download a free version to your iPhone or iPod Touch, Blackberry, or Android phone that includes the ASV translation.  If you so desire you can download additional free translations or buy other translations and study resources right from the app.  The app offers text searching to help you find that verse you have on your mind as well as highlighting and note-taking features.  You can even split the screen between two different translations or the Biblical text and a study resource. Because it runs on your phone you always have a copy of the Bible with you and can take advantage of all the opportunities for Bible reading that each day brings.  With a smartphone and the BibleReader app installed you can carry the Holy Scriptures with you and better keep up with your daily readings in the Bible 365 plan.
