The 30 Hour Famine is a national event that started 21 years ago as a way for students to help save and change – people's lives. You will gain a deeper awareness of the needs in our world and realize ho YOU n make a difference by:
- going without food for 30 hours
- sleeping in a cardboard shelter outside,
- raising money to support hunger in Greensboro,
- collecting canned goods for local area food pantries, and
- serving others during our famine event.
Priohe 30 Hour Famine, articipants are asked to raise money by seeking sponsors. All funds collected will be contributed to organizations that provide assistance to the hungry.
Durin t Famine, anned goods will be collected from the congregation and neighborhood surrounding Westminster and Christ United Methodist. Also, participants will spend time during the event serving the community and experiencing homelessness by sleeping outside in cardboard shelters.
In a world that loses 29,000 children under age 5 to hunger, poverty and disease every day, you can make a difference! The money you raise will help feed and care for hungry people around the world – $1 can feed and care for one child a day. Last year we collected 2415 lbs of can food for local distribution. Thank you for your willingness to be hungry so that others don't have to be.
