Helping Hands for Hunger Packaging Date: October 5, 2014

Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. -Proverbs 22:9

Helping Hands for Hunger (HHH) is the Christ UMC global hunger ministry that funds and assembles small, nutritious dried meal packets to feed starving children around the globe. Since 2008, HHH at Christ UMC has supplied 1700+ volunteers, packaged 346,811 meals, and raised over $90,000 in funds to send these life-saving meals to schools and orphanages in Kenya, Haiti, the Philippines, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. Each meal costs a mere twenty-five cents, a bargain by today’s standards, but can be a matter of survival to a starving child. The goal of HHH at CUMC for October 5 is to package 40,000 meals, to raise $10,000 to fund those meals, and to recruit approximately 200 CUMC adult and youth volunteer helpers. How can you help?

  1. Give a monetary donation through your abundance to Helping Hands for Hunger. Please drop your contribution, earmarked “Helping Hands for Hunger”, in the offering plate on any Sunday morning before October 5, or mail it to the church office. Contributions can also be made to:

  2. Support a teen. One meaningful way to contribute is by sponsoring junior and senior high youth meal packagers. $50 will support one youth, $100 will support two, etc. Earmark your donation “Helping Hands for Hunger Support a Teen”.

  3. Help with the meal-packaging event on October 5. There will be two packaging sessions: 4pm to 6:15pm for all interested church members, and 6pm to 8:30pm for junior and senior high youth only. Volunteer online to help package meals at:

More information about the October 5 HHH packing event at our church will be available in the Gathering Space on September 21, 28, and October 5. God calls us to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Won’t you please help this worthy cause?
