Lauralee and I have been blessed by God to have a great marriage. I am convinced that one of the reasons is that we’ve intentionally put effort into making our marriage the best it can be. My experience of over three decades in the practice of ministry is that those who are committed to moving their marriages from “good to great” are those couples who attend seminars, gain knowledge, and seek those opportunities that will equip them in growing in their journey together. Lauralee and I don’t agree on everything by any measure, however we both concur that one of the best things we ever did for our marriage (and for our children because having a great marriage is the best thing any couple can do for their children) is attend United Methodist Marriage Encounter. This time together was so meaningful for us that we became certified as clergy and spouse presenters for it. If you are looking for a way to make your good marriage great we can't recommend any experience higher than UMC Marriage Encounter. For those who've been on Emmaus Walk or Pilgrimage, the format will be very familiar. Should enough couples attend, Lauralee and I would love to become a part of an on-going group, with this event as the starting point.
