As mentioned during services last Sunday, it is with very mixed emotions that I announce that John Bletsch, John’s wife Rhonda, and their three boys will be leaving Christ United Methodist Church after serving our congregation for more than fifteen years.
Rhonda has been offered and has accepted a faculty position at Eastern University near Philadelphia, PA, as a professor in the Christian Studies Department, a prestigious opportunity and one that is very well deserved. John has accepted an appointment to serve a church in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church in the Phoenixville area, also near Philadelphia. John will serve as a lead pastor in that appointment.
I know many of you will agree that the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference will benefit tremendously from John’s leadership, biblical acumen, teaching skills, technical abilities and experience. And isn’t it great that a part of Christ United Methodist Church will be headed north to spread the good word with a bit of southern hospitality.
To John and Rhonda – on behalf of SPRC and the entire congregation, thank you for all that you have done for the body of Christ in Greensboro, and for CUMC in particular. We wish you all the best in your new and exciting journey.
John begins his new appointment on the last Sunday in June and Rhonda begins teaching classes at Eastern in late August. I encourage you to share your thoughts and well wishes for John and his family the next time you see them or through John’s email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While John and Rhonda cannot be replaced, Pastor Bailey and the SPRC are consulting with our District Superintendent and Bishop regarding the kind of person who would serve best as an associate at Christ Church. When the Bishop and his cabinet have made a decision regarding the associate pastor to be sent to us, we will share that information with you.
