Second Mile Lenten Offering

CUMC invites you to practice Lenten sacrifice and generosity through "second mile" giving to our Lenten offering fund. Proceeds from this offering help support our UMC missionaries: the Graner family in the Dominican Republic and the Webster family in Zambia, Africa. Simply mark your check or envelope with the amount you wish to go to the Lenten offering.

Soup To Dreams Sunday Luncheon: Sunday March 15, from 11am to 1pm in the Gym

Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a warm bowl of soup and salad and learn more about CUMC Dominican Republic Mission that will be leaving in July on its eighth mission to assist our partnering church, Igelsia Evangelica Metodista Libre in San Pedro de Macoris, to continue work on their local church school, lead a VBS for 300 children and host a four day medical clinic. Proceeds will support Dominican Republic Mission Team on its July 2015 Mission.

Senior Wheels Spaghetti Dinner

Senior Wheels will hold its annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser again this year at Christ Church. On Friday, March 27, this dinner will benefit the Senior Wheels Medical Transportation Program for wheelchair-bound riders. For $8 per ticket, spaghetti dinners will be served in the Fellowship Center from 5:30pm to 7:15pm and carry-out orders will also be available. Door prizes and silent auction gift baskets will round out the evening. Tickets may be purchased from Senior Wheels Team Captain, Linda Danford, at 373-1120 or by email lcdanfor@uncg.edu.

Fill The Bin for Community Missions

There is a Goodwill Bin for clothes collection now located in Holy Grounds, serving two purposes for our local missions at Christ Church. Each time our Bin is filled, Christ Church will receive a $25 voucher from Goodwill that will be able to assist a family in need. The Local Missions committee will partner with the CUMC United Methodist Women and their local project of assisting children and families at Hampton Elementary School, one of the lowest performing academic schools in the state. Please help support this mission by cleaning out your closet and Filling the Bin for Community Missions.

Give Back at Outback

Outback Restaurant is graciously sponsoring another “Give Back with Outback” night on Tuesday, March 31. The great thing about this night is that Outback Restaurants will donate 10% of the money earned from sales to CUMC members to the Dominican Republic Project. All you have to do is have an Outback Fund Raising sheet (which you can get from the church beginning on March 15) and take it to Outback on March 31. Just tell your server that you are from Christ Church. This sheet is even good for take-out orders. We’re looking for a great crowd. Gracias!

Helping Hands for Hunger

Helping Hands for Hunger is a CUMC mission project that, twice a year, packages nutritious, dried meals to be shipped to starving children around the globe. The next packaging event is Saturday, April 18, and HHH needs your help to secure the $20,000 needed to package 80,000 meals. If you are considering making an honorarium or memorial to someone in the church or simply want to contribute to the upcoming HHH event, please prayerfully earmark your check “Helping Hands for Hunger” and send it to the Church Office. Your contribution will foster our vision of a world without hunger. For further info or questions, contact Steve Danford: danford@uncg.edu or 373-1120.
