We are pleased to announce James Kjorlaug as our new pastoral intern!
James and his wife, Krista, a speech pathologist, met on a mission trip while in high school and have been married for a year and a half. He grew up at First United Methodist Church in Paragould, Arkansas, and attended Arkansas State, where he earned a degree in English. While in his undergraduate program there, he served in several congregations, where he was able to work as a lay speaker and youth director.
After graduating from Arkansas State, James went to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to serve as a missionary in a congregation there. Upon returning from Mongolia, James received his local pastoral license for Arkansas. He was appointed to Marmaduke FUMC while Krista finished graduate school.
Owners of a energetic labrador named Ellie, James and Krista love to spend time outdoors, hiking and rock climbing.
James and Krista moved to Greensboro in 2013 after the completion of his appointment year in 2013. They visited Christ Church on their first Sunday in town and loved the community that Christ Church offered. A second year student at Duke Divinity, they have been an active part of the Christ Church community ever since.
Of his upcoming internship, James said, “I’m very grateful to be able to serve with a congregation that has been so welcoming to us since we first came in the door.”
As our pastoral intern, James will mostly assist in worship and pastoral care, and will begin his internship this Sunday! Please join us in welcoming James to his new position.
