Sunday, July 20, is the sixth Sunday after Pentecost. Rev. Michael F. Bailey will continue our Lectionary series, Heavenly Horticulture: Seeds, Weeds, Good Deeds, and Jesus Feeds, with the sermon “Letting the Harvester, Harvest” based on Matthew 13:24–30, 36–43. We will be commissioning the members of the Youth Choir Music and Mission Team at the 11am service and they will be providing the music for that service as well.
In both services this week's hymns have been chosen to reflect God's grace toward us and our obligation to share God's love with all those around us and with the whole world.
At the 8:30am service, Genevieve Leach will be our guest soloist while our New Covenant Choir is on vacation. She will sing "My Shepherd Will Supply My Need", a poetic paraphrase of the 23rd Psalm, arranged by American composer Virgil Thomson.
At the 11am service, all choral music will be furnished by our Youth Choir Music and Missions Team, who will also be commissioned in that service for this week's mission trip to South Carolina. They will sing "Sanctuary" by Amy Martin, an arrangement of the African-American spiritual "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" by Alan Petker, and the traditional benediction "Shalom to You".
