Sunday, July 6, is the fourth Sunday after Pentecost. Rev. Michael F. Bailey will preach the message, There is Rest for the Weary, based on Matthew 11:28–30, at all four services of worship.
This Sunday, all hymns will be patriotic in nature or will reflect our responsibility as believers to be good citizens of our world. The choral anthem at 8:30am is a beautiful text by James Kirkby, "I Vow to Thee, My Country", set to music from The Planets by Gustav Holst.
At 11am, the Chancel Choir will sing Peter Wilhousky's arrangement of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". Additional music at both services will include Communion music on piano or organ.
At both services, the closing voluntary will be John Phillip Sousa's famous march "The Stars and Stripes Forever" played on piccolo by Nancy Thurston with organ accompaniment.
