Sunday Preview: March 30, 2014

March 30 is the fourth Sunday in the season of Lent. Pastor Michael F. Bailey’s sermon is Tempted to Assign Blame, based on John 9:1–7. Handbells are scheduled to play at both the 8:30am and 11am traditional services of worship.

Campana Ringer handbells will play the opening voluntary at both 8:30am and 11am; the closing organ voluntary will be a setting of the ancient hymn "O Christ, Who Art the Light and Day" by Johann Pachelbel (8:30am) or Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (11am). Hymns at both services include the familiar favorites "Amazing Grace" and "Fairest Lord Jesus" as well as hymns which allude to God's ability to open our eyes to God's truth.

Choral anthem at 8:30am is "We Come to Thee" by Valerie Showers Cresenz; at 11am the Offertory will be the short Lenten anthem "Hide Not Thou Thy Face from Us" by Richard Farrant.
