Tempted to Ignore His Power

Sunday, April 6, 2014

Many people think that announcements are just the filler--or the add-on--for the meat of the service and that is true on some level, but it is also important stuff in the life of the church. It's the life of the church. How one makes announcements is important. I recently read about the manner in which a friend of mine announces the death of a church member. He says something like, “Mrs. Smith won her battle over breast cancer yesterday. Her funeral will be on Tuesday at 2:00.” That is not how the news reports it.  Often, in the news, we hear or read something like this:  “Mrs. Smith lost her lengthy battle with cancer after a valiant fight.”
