Rev. Michael F. Bailey, Senior Pastor
Mike is responsible for the overall spiritual leadership of Christ Church, including development of vision, spiritual leadership of staff, working with our lay leadership to shape the impact of Christ Church for God’s kingdom, and serving as the church’s primary leader when interfacing with the greater community. He designs all sermon series and has a preaching schedule that brings him into all 4 of the Christ Church services on a regular basis.
Mike's father, grandfather, and maternal great-grandfather all served the Methodist tradition as clergy and now, youngest son, Ian is a student at Duke Divinity School. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and reared in parsonages in West Tennessee and Western Kentucky, he is truly a child of the church. Educated at Lambuth University, Vanderbilt University, Pacific School of Religion of the Graduate Theological Union of San Francisco and Columbia Theological, he has served parishes in Tennessee, California, Georgia, North Carolina, and The Netherlands. He began service at Christ Church in July 2012.
Mike is married to Lauralee Davis Bailey, who was raised in Burlington, NC. They have four children: Michael, Jr. and wife Kelly, identical twin grandsons, Aidan and Flynn of Berkeley, California; Ian and wife JaCynthia, grandson Elias and grand-daughter Eden Rose of Rougement, North Carolina; Carrie Bailey Dugas, husband Joey and grand-daughter Emery Grace of Southern Pines, NC, and Anna Bailey Knauer and husband Kip of Reading, Pennsylvania.
Mike chooses to serve the church through serving the community as well. In communities where he has served, he has been on the boards of United Way, YMCA, Rotary, Hospice, children’s charities, and counseling centers. In Greensboro he has served on the steering committee of the Greensboro Faith Leaders’ Council, an interfaith group seeking to be a moral voice for justice for the city. Currently, the Board of Ordained ministry as a Residency in Ordained Ministry leader and as a trustee of the Parish Ministry Fund of the Duke Divinity School.
Rev. Louis Timberlake, Executive Pastor
Louis is responsible for the operations of Christ Church and working with the relevant lay and staff leaders. He is also active in worship and preaching, in addition to overseeing our ministry to young adults. Louis has served in churches in North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. He is married to Kate, an MD student at Wake Forest, and they have one son, Felder, and a dog, Hobbs. When he's not working or chasing Felder, he enjoys backpacking, fly-fishing, being active, and watching sports (specifically the Georgia Bulldogs, the Davidson Wildcats, the Atlanta Falcons, and Duke).
Rev. Virginia Reynolds, Associate Pastor for Congregational Care
Virginia works part-time at Christ Church,working with the Congregational Care Ministry Area, Stephen Ministers, and applicable church staff to offer educational and supportive resources to all those in need of care at Christ Church. A child of missionaries, Virginia grew up in Brazil and Rutherford County, NC before going to Mercer University. During her 20 years in ministry, she has served congregations in the areas of Spiritual Formation, Family Ministry, Pastoral Care, and Mission Outreach. Virginia furthered her education at Campbell Divinity, ACPE Chaplaincy training, and is currently working on her Masters of Arts in Christian Practice at Duke Divinity School. Virginia and her husband, Lollis, have two sons, Joshua and Joel.
Rev. Dr. Alice Kunka, Associate Pastor for Spiritual Formation
Alice serves part-time at Christ Church and is responsible for the spiritual formational ministries at Christ Church, including coordinating small groups, retreats, and events. She grew up in Winston-Salem and was educated at UNC Greensboro, UNC Chapel Hill, and the University of Pittsburgh. She completed theological studies at Wesley Seminary. As an ordained deacon she has served several parishes. Alice and her husband Bob moved to Greensboro to be near their son, Ben, daughter-in-law, Jenn, and grandchildren, Sofia and Clyde, who were both baptized at Christ Church. Daughter Emily resides in New York City. Alice enjoys singing as well as going on pilgrimage. She finds peacocks—the symbol of the resurrection—fascinating.
Rev. Mark Norman Vickers, Associate Pastor and Lead Pastor of St. Timothy's UMC
Mark is the the Lead Pastor of St. Timothy's UMC, Christ UMC's daughter church. He also serves one-quarter time at Christ UMC, primarily in the area of congregational care. He leads worship quarterly at Christ Church.
Mark was born in Marion, Indiana. He graduated from Marion High School in 1979, attended and graduated from Earlham College in 1983 with a double major in Religion and Art History. He then went on to The Divinity School at Duke University, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 1986.
Mark was married to the late Rev. Susan Norman Vickers. He has a son, Thompson who is a Sophomore at North Carolina State University. Mark has served churches in Morganton, North Mecklenburg County, and downtown Charlotte. He served as the Chaplain and Director of Aftercare Services for Forbis and Dick Funeral Service for 17 years and has been a licensed funeral director for over 13 years. Mark enjoys bicycling, fly fishing, and working and hunting with his bird dogs.
Music & Arts Staff
Cathy West, Coordinator of Music and Arts

Cathy, who has been at Christ Church since 1993, is responsible for leading our choral music ministries for youth and adults. She collaborates with André Lash, Organist and Coordinator of Instrumental Music, and the clergy in the planning and leadership of our traditional worship services. She also oversees occasional drama productions at Christ Church. She especially enjoys bringing people of all ages together through our church-wide productions, which include Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s Fludde and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, and she truly believes that there is a place for everyone in music and the arts at Christ Church.
Dr. André Lash, Organist and Coordinator of Instrumental Music

André serves as the primary organist and is responsible for overseeing the instrumental music of Christ Church, including coordinating musicians and directing the handbell choirs. He collaborates with Cathy West, Coordinator of Music and Arts, and the clergy in the planning and leadership of our traditional worship services. With degrees in both Music Education and Church Music, and a doctorate in Organ Performance, thirty years' experience as a full-time church musician, and additional work as an academician, André Lash brings a wealth of musical viewpoints to his responsibilities at Christ Church.

Anne Dooley, Director of Christian Education

Anne is responsible for overseeing our education ministries for children (infants through grade six) and adults. Specifically, she works with children’s ministry, family life, Welcome Wednesday, senior adults, and adult Sunday school.
She is a graduate of Greensboro College, with degrees in Religion & Philosophy and Sociology. She completed Certification Studies in Christian Education at Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and has been working full-time in Christian Education since 1978, coming to Christ Church in 1981. She enjoys working with a wide variety of people in our many facets of educational ministry. Her hobbies include going to Raleigh to see her young adult children, playing a little tennis, and going out to lunch and for walks with friends. Christ Church is her home, and she is honored to be part of this church family, along with her husband, Barry.
Katey Blaylock, Director of Youth Ministries

Katey is responsible for overseeing the youth ministry (grades seven through twelve) and coordinating the teams of volunteers that it takes to run this ministry. She grew up in the Greensboro/Jamestown area, mostly in the halls of Christ Church. She loved growing up with the Children's and Youth programs at CUMC and credits their guidance to her faith in God's grace and her heart for missions. She has a degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University, which she used to teach elementary school for six years in High Point, while volunteering with the youth at Christ Church. Katey began full time as Youth Director in June of 2015 and is currently pursuing her Masters in Christian Practice through Duke Divinity School.

Lynn works with Anne and the Education and Formation Ministry Area to run the education ministries of Christ Church. In particular, she focuses on ministries to families of preschoolers.
Kathy Wickline, Director of Kids Ahead

Kathy has been the Director of the Kids Ahead after school program since its inception in July 1994, and is honored that her church home has supported this vital ministry for twenty years.
She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Elementary Education and multiple graduate courses in education. She taught in Pittsburgh, PA, and the Greensboro City Schools before coming to Kids Ahead. Her family consists of her husband Terry, three adult children, and four grandchildren.
Courtney Guadagno, Director of Communications and Technology

Courtney is responsible for developing and implementing a communications strategy that helps people in the congregation and the community connect with the ministries of Christ Church. She also oversees the technology of Christ Church in support of its ministries. A North Carolina native, Courtney received a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication and English at UNC-Chapel Hill and her M.A. in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College in Boston, MA. Before coming to Christ Church, she worked as a digital editor in the content marketing industry. She lives in Greensboro with her husband, Tim, their son, Rhett, and their dog, Gatsby.

Claire works part-time at Christ Church, helping Courtney implement the communications strategy that enables people to connect with the ministries of the church. She grew up as a preachers’ kid in the PCUSA and continues to attend Forest Presbyterian Church in High Point. She has a B.A in English from East Carolina University and an M.F.A in Creative Writing from Carlow University. She loves the church, no matter the denomination, and is excited to use her gifts for CUMC. Outside of work, she loves to read, write, and cook.
Samantha Charlet, Business Manager
Samantha manages the finances of Christ Church, working closely with the Finance Committee to cultivate good stewardship of our financial resources. She ensures that all contributions to the ministries of Christ Church are used to further the work of those ministries, enabling us to honor our commitment to be a community where the good news of Jesus Christ is encountered, embraced, and embodied.

Susan provides support to the clergy of Christ Church and is a wonderful link between our pastors and the congregation. She coordinates schedules, helps manage pastoral care needs, and generally stays two steps ahead of our pastoral staff.

Sarah serves as the receptionist in the office area, attending to the various needs within the Church Office and providing support to our Worship and Arts and Education and Formation staff. Sarah moved to Greensboro to attend UNCG in 2000, and obtained her B.A. in English with a minor in History. Sarah has an M.F.A. in English and Creative Writing with a concentration in Fiction. In her spare time, she loves to read, write, and watch movies of every genre. She is also a music lover and a big kid at heart.

Robyn, working part time at Christ Church, works with Samantha in stewardship of the finances of Christ Church, ensuring that our resources are managed with accuracy and integrity. She grew up in Florida and moved to Greensboro to attend UNCG. After many years working in sales and management positions she eventually ended up at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro where her mom was a patient. Robyn has been a Volunteer Coordinator at hospice for the past 13 years. In her leisure time Robyn enjoys gardening, volunteering and spending time with friends.

Vicki works with Virginia and our congregational care ministries, primarily focusing on health educaiton, wellness, and connecting congregants and community members with resources. Individual appointment hours are Tuesdays/Thursdays, 11am–1pm.
Vicki is a graduate of Duke University Health and Nursing Ministries Program (a.k.a. Faith Community Nursing). Congregational nurses help the individual person integrate their resources of religious faith and social support into the physical medical care available within the community.
Mark Ledford, Director of Facilities and Food Service

Mark is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in Business Administration and a major in Hospitality Management. He has been on staff at Christ Church since 1997 and worked in the food service and hospitality industry for 22 years. Here at Christ Church, he manages our facilities and food services.
