This is for all Sunday school teachers, youth group leaders, KIDs Group coordinators, Welcome Wednesday workers, and age-level teams and committees. Many of these servants work behind the scenes. Join our United Methodist Women on Tuesday, March 28, to hear about their partnership with Hampton Elementary School and other local efforts for improving childhood literacy. The evening’s speakers are Jean Pudlo, Associate Director of Reading Connections, andThyais Maxwell, Principal at Hampton Elementary School. Jean Pudlo’s presentation isentitled “Each One Teach One: Working in Adult Literacy over the Years.” Thyais Maxwell will share how the UMW’s efforts with literacy at Hampton have contributed to the success of students and staff. Registration begins at 5:45pm; dinner will be served at 6:15pm. Cost is $10 (to be paid at the door).

All fathers and daughters are invited to a semi-formal father-daughter dance hosted in the CUMC Youth Building. Tickets are $20 for father/daughter pair and $5 for each additional daughter. Growing up has never been easy for boys and girls—nor has being a helpful parent. We know something of the conflicting notions of what it means to be a sexual person—a male and female. The Church has something to say to you of reassurance, needed direction and guidance, and information about growing up.
A birthday party for baby Jesus will be celebrated in the Sunday school classes of ages two–Kindergarten on January 8, 2017. We will enjoy a lesson, special song, party snack and craft in honor of the birth of baby Jesus. Please bring toddler and preschool books to donate to children who live at Pathways Center, a part of Greensboro Urban Ministry.
Our Christmas Eve services are always so special. Make plans to attend at least one of these services of worship:
4pm: Children’s Service in the Sanctuary, featuring informal singing by our children’s choirs and a message for kids.
6pm: Contemporary service with communion in the Fellowship Center. Our Advent series will wrap up with the message, All I Want for Christmas, offered by Rev. Mic
7:30pm & 11pm: Traditional services with communion and candle-lighting in the Sanctuary.
Join us for our third annual Christmas Eve Eve service, featuring your favorite Christmas carols, a children's story time by the (digital) fireplace, and a short sermon. Enjoy cookies and milk, hot cocoa, and coffee before and after the service!
Adults are invited to wear tacky Christmas sweaters, and children are encouraged to come in their favorite pajamas.
The holidays are full of joy for many people, but for those who are working through change, loss, grief or hardship, it can be a lonely season. If you need to be reminded of God's grace and presence even in this time of seasonal celebration, we invite you to attend the healing service on Sunday, December 11, at 6:30pm in the Chapel. This special service will draw upon scripture and prayer to offer support and encouragement to you.
Christ United Methodist Church invites parents & friends to bring their children of all ages to an informal, drop-in continental breakfast at the scene of the Nativity. The Christmas Story will be shared with children of all ages at 10am. Children may also make Nativity crafts.
Sunday, December 4th will be the Senior High Youth Pancake and Sausage Breakfast from 9am-1pm in the gym! Donations will go to support the Christmas families our youth adopt for the holiday season!
Christ Church will once again host Financial Peace University starting in January. This course, designed by David Ramsey, will teach you to create a budget, pay off debt, spend and save wisely
The Advent Workshop is a Christ Church tradition where all ages can spend time together preparing for the Advent season. Come make crafts and collect devotional materials that will help you and your family celebrate the true meaning of this special season as we prepare for Christmas.
