At Christ Greensboro, we believe that together, we make ministry possible. This year’s generosity campaign, Worth IT!, kicks off October 4th and is an invitation to join in building a strong foundation for today while preparing for the ministry God is calling us to in the future.
Discipling the next generation, feeding our hungry neighbors and sharing Christ’s love in our community takes intentional effort, and we believe with all our hearts that it is Worth IT! The opportunities before us continue to grow. Your pledge of prayers, presence, service, witness and financial gifts helps Christ Greensboro step forward in faith, expanding our reach and strengthening our impact in Greensboro and beyond.
Through your generosity, we are able to engage in vibrant worship, nurture faith for every generation, serve our neighbors, create radical hospitality and practice wholehearted generosity. None of this happens alone; it happens together as a church family responding to God’s call.
Key Campaign Dates & Milestones
October 4 - Campaign Kickoff, Sermon Series begins, Earn. Save. Give. Study begins in small groups. Small groups launch John Wesley’s classic 4-week study on biblical financial wisdom.
October 25 - Generosity Market: Experience your giving in action through hands-on displays of our local, regional, and global mission partners.
October 27 - Day of Prayer in the Chapel. “God, where do YOU want me to be in my giving?”
November 2 - Celebration Sunday: Observed on All Saints’ Sunday, this is a powerful way to honor the saints who paved the way before us by bringing our Estimate of Giving Cards forward to strengthen our church's future.

Weekly Generosity Reflections
WEEK 1
Read: Matthew 4:18-22; 1 Thessalonians 1:4
Reflect: Jesus knew that he needed all kinds of people to help him accomplish his mission. So, he made sure everyone knew that they were an important part of his team. At Christ Greensboro, we want everyone to know they are an integral part of helping us accomplish our mission to “embrace people, our community and world with the boundless love of God.” Do you currently feel like an important part of the Christ Greensboro family? How might you take steps to deepen your engagement? How can we help?
Take the Next Step: This week, take some time to prayerfully consider what makes you an integral part of the Christ Greensboro community of faith. Write down some ways that you can engage with the mission of our church this year.
WEEK 2
Read: Psalm 24:1; 1 Timothy 6:10
Reflect: Scripture tells us that everything belongs to God (Psalm 24:1) and warns that making money our primary devotion leads us off track (1 Timothy 6:10). Money isn't a measure of our worth—it's simply a tool entrusted to us to spread love, hospitality, and hope. When we realize we are stewards rather than owners, giving shifts from an obligation into a joyful act of worship.
Take the Next Step: Take a quiet moment this week to pray: “God, where do You want me to be in my giving?” Look at The Giving Path without any pressure or shame, and consider taking one intentional step forward in percentage giving as a personal response to God’s generosity in your life.
WEEK 3
Read: Selected Proverbs
Reflect: Proverbs frames giving not as an afterthought or a surplus expense, but as a primary act of faith. Honoring God with our "first fruits" means placing our trust in God right at the start, rather than offering God whatever happens to be left over. Biblical generosity isn't about depleting us; it’s a wise cycle of grace where giving back to God refreshes our own souls and builds up our whole community.
Take the Next Step: Set aside time this week to review your household budget and ask: “God, am I giving to You first, or giving You what remains?” Look at The Giving Path without any pressure or shame, and commit to taking one intentional step toward giving intentionally from your first fruits.

Read: 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
Reflect: Paul reminds us that the heart behind our giving matters just as much as the gift itself. God isn't looking for reluctant obedience or forced obligation—He delights in a willing, cheerful heart. When we plant seeds generously, we participate in a harvest of spiritual growth, community impact, and personal joy. Generosity is never a loss; it is an investment in God’s work that returns joy to the giver.

WHY IS GIVING IMPORTANT?
Nearly all of the resourcing for the missions and ministries of Christ Greensboro comes from the generosity of the congregation. Without your generosity, inspiring worship services, vital ministries for children, youth and adults, impactful missional work and deeply caring community wouldn’t be possible. We are so grateful for the generosity of so many, which allows Christ Greensboro to be a great community of faith and a transformational force in our community.
HOW IS THE CHURCH BUDGET CREATED?
The church budget is a collaborative endeavor. First, ministry leaders and committees submit their requests to the Finance Committee. This committee then uses these requests and the results of the generosity campaign to establish a budget for the coming year. That budget is then submitted to the Church Council, which includes representation from all ministry areas, for final approval. The Finance Committee then monitors income and expenses throughout the year, ensuring financial responsibility as we pursue our mission together.
DID YOU KNOW?
We have 1,300 households at Christ Greensboro and of those, 521 households gave $1,776,014. However, 779 households made no registered gifts. Can you imagine what we could do if everyone was financially participating, even just a little?
WHY DO WE MAKE AN ESTIMATE OF GIVING COMMITMENT?
Making an estimate of giving commitment is extremely helpful as the Finance Committee and staff work to project the income and set the budget for the coming year. If you ever need to make a change to your commitment, we understand. These commitments simply help us to plan well and be good stewards of church resources.
WHERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO?
Using a narrative budget, you can see that Discipleship (Intentional Faith Development) and Mission (Love in Action) make up the majority of our budget.
