SERVE
Why Serve
Serving at your church can be a deeply rewarding experience that fosters spiritual growth, community, personal development, and a sense of purpose. By actively engaging in acts of service, you have the opportunity to live out your faith, deepen your relationship with your religious community and higher power, and form meaningful connections with like-minded individuals. Serving allows you to make a positive impact in the lives of others and address social issues in line with your values. It brings personal satisfaction, joy, and a sense of fulfillment as you witness the transformation in the lives of others and contribute to something greater than yourself. Furthermore, serving exposes you to diverse perspectives, promotes learning, and broadens your understanding of the world. Overall, serving at your church offers a unique opportunity to combine your faith, personal growth, and making a difference in a supportive and meaningful community. Christ Greensboro has many opportunities to serve. If you’re not sure where to start, a Ministry Mentor can be very helpful. Scroll down to learn more about our Ministry Mentor program.

FIND YOUR PLACE
Finding your place in ministry at Christ United Methodist Church
At Christ Church, we believe that all of us share a calling to follow Jesus, be his disciples, and join him in his ongoing work of ministry in the world. We call this our “Equipping Ministry.”
“Equipping the Saints for Ministry” is a New Testament concept from the writings of Paul. Equipping ministry is all about engaging and involving servants in Ministry. At Christ Church, we strive to have a strong Servant Culture, doing God’s work in this church, the community, and the world. Our Church is a training ground for the Great Commission (Go and make disciples). We want to Connect people to meaning beyond themselves.
Spiritual Gifts Assessment: Christ Church believes that each person is called and gifted to be in ministry. Our spiritual gifts assessment will help you discover your gifts and then, if you so choose, a Ministry Mentor can assist in exploring the different ways you can use them. You can click the Spiritual Gifts Assessment button below. The spiritual gifts assessment takes about 20 minutes and there are 64 questions. You can score the assessment yourself or meet with a Ministry Mentor to find out how you can use your gifts at Christ Church.
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ…From him the whole body…builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4:11-13
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4 - 5
Ministry Mentor Description
Ministry Mentors walk alongside our members and friends, as Resource People and Connectors, to answer questions or connect you to people who can. They can help you “pull it all together” --- looking at Heart (Passions), Abilities, Personality, Experiences, and Spiritual Gifts (for those who choose to take the inventory). This is for both new and long time members. Contact Katey Galyon or Debbie Hayes with any questions. kgalyon@christgreensboro.org, dhayes@triad.rr.com
