Hello Christ Youth,
Just a few more weeks for things to kick up a notch for Christ youth 2026/2027! Fall Kickoff is Sunday, August 30. Christ Youth Gets Wild!
Kickoff is 5:15 to 7:00 in the Youth Center. Jungle theme, games, food, and your first look at everything coming this year. Wear something animal print if you choose. No pressure, but the bar has been set.
This is the best night of the year to bring somebody new. If you have a friend who has never walked into this building, this is the night. Bring them. Bring two.

Sunday Small Groups start August 23rd
9:55-10:50 every Sunday morning.
Week one, we all start together and I will walk everybody through what the year looks like. After that we break out into small groups for the rest of the school year.
Where to go:
9th-12th: the Loft
7th/8th: starting year in Room 213, moving to Room 215
5th/6th: under the Loft
Confirmation: joining the group at first, then moving to the Confirmation Room in September
Small groups are the best place to actually get known here. A big room can be a lot. A small group is eight or ten people who learn your name and notice when you are gone. We are spending the whole year in the Gospel of Luke, start to finish.
You do not have to sign up. You do not have to have come last week. You do not have to have read anything. Walk in, sit down, you belong there. Drop-ins are not just allowed, they are the point.
Light snacks always provided in the youth cafe before class.

Handbook and calendar are ready
Both are here, and both are full of dates worth marking. Grab them, print them, put the big ones on the fridge. If you have questions, the handbook (hopefully) has the answers and information on the weekly movements of CY.
One thing to know: these are living documents. Dates shift. Details get added. The handbook will get updated as the year goes, so check back rather than assuming the version you downloaded in August is the final word. A reminder that both can be found at christgreensboro.org/youth
This is also where you will find the music opportunities: Youth Handbells, Lessons and Carols Choir, Youth Praise Band, and plenty more. If your student has ever thought about singing or playing, this is the year to try it. (More details on those programs at later dates)

Welcome Wednesday update
Begins Wednesday, September 9. Dinner starts the night, everything wraps by 7:30.
No separate youth programming this fall. Instead, everyone is invited into something bigger. Pastor Garrett is leading an intergenerational Bible study on Revelation. Youth are invited. So is everyone else. Sit at the table with adults in this church and wrestle with one of the wildest books in the Bible.
Revelation not your thing? Other options include helping with younger kids, yoga, and Christmon making.
At dinner, Pastor Garrett will check in with each youth about which class you are picking that night and let that leader know you are coming. It should be a great time!

CY Fantasy Football
(much less important, but here we are)
We have a real contingent of fantasy football people in this youth group and the league is open for the 2026 season. Open to youth, parents, or co-manage together, whatever works. Link is below.
Mostly this gives you material to talk trash to me about on Sunday nights, which is the actual point.
Prize for the winner is bigger than your wildest dreams.

A few last things
Going to be a broken record, but we always need volunteers. Small group leaders, chaperones, snack supper help, people to sit in a room and learn some names. If any of that sounds like you, reply to this email and I will find you the right spot.
Parents, snack supper assignments are coming in a separate email soon. Watch for it!
