The Christmas season at Christ Greensboro
Advent Worship Series: Goodness and Light
This Advent, we invite you into a season of wonder, reflection, and joyful anticipation as we explore the Christmas story through the unfolding movement of the beloved song “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
Each question in the song echoes the very heart of Advent—inviting us to see, listen, understand and receive the good news of Christ’s coming.
Week 1: Do You See What I See?
We begin Advent by discovering how God shines hope into the darkness of our lives. Even when shadows linger, God’s light breaks through.
Week 2: Do You Hear What I Hear?
This week we listen to a voice crying out in the wilderness, calling us to prepare the way for peace— in our hearts, in our relationships and in our world.
Week 3: Do You Know What I Know?
We remember that God’s story is carried not by the powerful, but by people who are willing, people just like us. God continues to work through ordinary lives to bring extraordinary grace.
Week 4: Do You Need What I Need?
Our final week leads us to our deepest human longing: love. Not sentimental love, but the saving, healing, world-remaking love of God revealed in Christ.
The Heart of Advent in the Methodist Tradition
The Advent season holds deep significance in the Methodist Church as it marks the beginning of the Christian year and prepares us for the celebration of Christ’s birth.
It is a sacred time set aside for reflection, anticipation, and spiritual preparation. Methodist congregations observe this season by lighting the Advent candles, singing hymns of hope, love, joy, and peace, and hearing messages rooted in the hope-filled promises of the Old Testament.
Advent invites us into worship, prayer, and community—setting the stage for a deeper understanding of the true meaning of Christmas.
We hope you’ll join us for this holy season.

The Christmas Offering will benefit Celia Phelps United Methodist Church
This Advent, we have a special opportunity to live out Christ’s love by supporting our brothers and sisters at Celia Phelps United Methodist Church. Four years ago, their building was devastated by fire. Today, they are rebuilding, not just a church, but a multi-use space to serve the community, especially those facing food insecurity.
One critical piece remains: a fully equipped kitchen to prepare meals and host community programs. The cost, about $30,000, is beyond their reach, and taking on debt would jeopardize their future.
Our Christmas Eve Offering will go entirely toward this kitchen, helping Celia Phelps UMC continue their mission and share Christ’s love in tangible ways.
You can give anytime by:
Texting Christmas to 984-237-2862
Giving a check with Christmas Offering in the memo line
Every gift matters. Together, we can help bring hope, nourishment, and community this Christmas season.
